Academic Assessments

Using the Canadian Achievement Test (CAT3), we are able to determine a good starting point for your child's tutoring sessions. A detailed summary of assessment results will provide information regarding which areas of literacy and/or mathematics your child finds challenging or is proficient at. The results will also provide a grade-level and percentile rank of your child's knowledge and skills in all areas of mathematics and/or literacy.

Individualized Literacy Program (Pre-K to 9)

Upon taking a Canadian Achievement Test (CAT3), children are matched with a specialized literacy program that corresponds to their personal style of learning, current set of skills, and background knowledge. The program may not contain material equivalent to their present grade as it is often necessary for children to rebuild a solid foundation of basic literacy skills before moving onto grade-level material. The Individualized Literacy Program ensures that all children are learning at their cognitive level and are constantly progressing forward with a greater sense of confidence.

After every 40 hours of completed tutoring time students will be re-assessed using CAT3. (There will be no additional fees for this assessment as it will fall under scheduled tutoring time) This will provide a clear understanding regarding the child's progress. A re-assessment report will be sent home to exhibit the results. In addition, a progress report will be sent home every 20 hours of completed tutoring time.
